World Live Web Part 2

popular searches

The other day I talked about harnessing the power of the World Live Web from many different places to find out the subjects of people’s searches that are being performed today. Today I just wanted to make a quick post to point out a tool created by the geniuses behind SEOmoz called Popular Searches.

Popular searches is a free tool (for now) that scrapes and aggregates data from tons of great sites that will allow you to analyze trends and other useful up-to-date information. The list is updated once per day but you can go back in time to check the archives for a particular date.

From SEOmoz:

By themselves, these pages can be a fantastic resource for a search marketer trying to find trendy content or high popularity search phrases to target. However, if there were a resource that aggregated all of these sources into one location and enabled one to see the popular searches from the past, maybe even make it available in a CSV format, that would be truly handy, right?

I can’t see this one being that useful, although I’m sure it is a great asset for SEOMoz’s link baiting stratergies. Although it could be useful to find emerging uncompetative terms.

I am currently testing a tool I made to check your ranking in the SERPs for different countires. You can see it at http://sites.mutinydesign.co.uk/hosts/sem_labs/rank-check/

justing looking for the right domain now.

    Mutiny,
It’s a good way to stay on top of trends for organic traffic with less competition. Your tool looks like it’s coming along good and while I wouldn’t have much use for it, the design and usability is great so far. Maybe if there were a way to check every country at once?

    Matt,
    No problem.

    Hey Scott,

That’s a pretty cool tool … it gave me a great idea for a new post entitled …

“Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan Travel to MySpace and get Cooking with Harry Potter while Pamela Anderson Cools off with her Mac Computer”

    haha
