This is a very intuative idea. I think for getting something to work it need to be, as you say, something that makes easier or solves a problem. Providing people access to information that is not avalible elsewhere is also a good one. Back in the days when I was involved in historical research I was able to get access to crinimal records, legal records etc. Some of the information ou can pick up would make some great but expensive link bait.

Also, if the concept you are looking to market has not been tried before (or done really badly) this could make things easier for you. The most succesfful businesses I know were all pioneers.

Not all successful businesses were pioneers! But, this stuff is mainly for info products/adsense/affiliate deals use where being #1-2 in Google automatically gives you most of the customers :D .

are you suggesting we copy the articles there?

^ Perhaps not ACTUALLY copying the articles. As suggested:

“There are over 98 niche topics on how to get ahead at work.”

Realizing what people want and what people are trying to look for can really help a great deal in establishing your niche. Couple that with patience and motivation and you’ll eventually get the desired results, truth be told.

    Good job on the article.
